Jessica Dobson, LOTR, Pelvic Health Specialist

Jessica finds herself living in Zachary and working in Baton Rouge via an interesting and circuitous path! After growing up in Minneapolis, she attended college in its “Twin City”, St. Paul, at St. Catherine University, obtaining an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Occupational Science degree in 2008 and a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy 3 years later. This study set the foundation for becoming a clinical educator as a student and as a therapist for therapy outreach in poor communities of South America, an experience Jessica describes as “transformative”. With a desire to fully understand the mind-body connection, Jessica obtained a YOGA ALLIANCE certification in 2016, and teaches yoga about once a week, but incorporates this knowledge in her everyday practice in pelvic health.

So how did you get to Baton Rouge?

“I met my husband while working in Texas at my first job as an OT, and later he took a job with the Louisiana division of Exxon.”

Why Pelvic Health Therapy?

“I’ve always had a passion for women’s health, but after becoming a mother a few years ago and understanding the benefits of pre and post-natal care, I wanted to obtain future education in this specialty and have plans to implement a pre and post-natal care program at Brown Rogers Therapy. I am loving the diversity of diagnoses we treat, including helping men with bladder and bowel issues. I believe in a holistic approach to treatment of individuals, and it is rewarding to impact patients’ everyday lives! Improvements are often immediate with pelvic health therapy, come without medicine, and patients have such gratitude!”

Fun Fact: Jessica studied multicultural healthcare approaches as a student & as a therapist in South America.
