Matthew brings an impressive academic background, experience, and a passion for orthopedic care alongside a genuine commitment to helping patients return to the activities they love.

After earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman's University in Houston's Texas Medical Center in May 2023, Matthew immediately focused on advancing his orthopedic expertise. He completed the rigorous preparation required for the Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification and successfully passed the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties examination in June 2025.

Matthew's clinical experiences include multiple outpatient orthopedic rotations, highlighted by a 12-week affiliation at Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation in The Woodlands, Texas. Following 3 years of outpatient orthopedic practice, his move to Baton Rouge proved to be a natural fit.

"My wife completed her first two years of medical school and matched with Baton Rouge General for her clinical training. As I searched for the right place to continue my career, I was really impressed by Brown Rogers Physical Therapy's message and commitment to patient care. It felt like the perfect next step."

Why Physical Therapy?

Matthew's passion for physical therapy began with a personal experience.

"When my younger sister had ACL reconstruction at age 12, I saw firsthand how an injury affects not only the individual but the entire family. As she progressed through physical therapy, I watched our whole household’s stress reduce and return to normal. That experience showed me how much of a difference physical therapy can make and not just physically, but emotionally for everyone involved. Being able to guide patients through that process and watch them regain their lives is incredibly rewarding."

Why Pursue the OCS?

"Throughout PT school and my clinical rotations, I worked alongside therapists who held specialty certifications. I was inspired by the depth of knowledge they brought to patient care. Since outpatient orthopedics is where my passion lies, earning my OCS was the natural next step in continuing to grow as a clinician."

Outside the Clinic

When Matthew isn't treating patients, you'll usually find him staying active outdoors or in the gym.

Powerlifting & Fitness
While attending undergrad at the University of Houston, Matthew competed on the university's powerlifting team. He still enjoys strength training and challenging himself with new fitness goals.

"I like being competitive, with myself and with others. The gym is one of my favorite places to unwind while continuing to improve."

Fishing
Born and raised in Houston, Matthew grew up taking advantage of the nearby Gulf Coast.

"Some of my favorite memories are shark fishing at night with friends along Galveston Beach. I enjoy all kinds of fishing, but there's something exciting about saltwater- you never know what you're going to catch or how big it's going to be!"

He also enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors whenever possible.

Fun Fact

Matthew and his wife share their home with two cats: Sarah, an 18-year-old queen of the house, and Purrcy, their energetic one-year-old kitten.

"Sarah occasionally tries to channel her inner kitten, but she'd much rather nap than play. She's definitely the one in charge."

An even bigger surprise? Matthew has been allergic to cats his entire life, but fortunately his allergies continue to improve!
